Product Information
Knob Materials
Thermoset
  • This material has excellent surface hadrness. Its very smooth surface is resistant to most chemicals and is easy to clean and sanitize. Also, this material has very good electrical insulation properties and heat is tolerant to heat. Also known as Phenolic, Bakelite and Melamine (in colors)
Thermoplastic
  • This material is available in a large variety of forms designed into the materials to satisfy various application requirements. Thermoplastic materials tend to be more impact resistant, usually are available in matte and textured finishes, and can be color-matched to most colors in the spectrum.
Connection Devices
All our knobs are insert-molded. This insures the strongest attachment of the insert or stud to the knob insuring maximum torque and pullout strength.
Inserts
  • Made from brass, inserts are also known as female of internally threaded inserts, these inserts are either:
Blind, which do not go completely through the knob, or
Thru, which do go through the knob, also known as thru Hole.
Molded Threads
  • Available in Thermoset knobs only, molded threads are female or internal threads molded into knob.
Hex Nuts
  • A less expensive alternative to brass inserts, Hex Nuts function adequately in some thermoplastic knob applications.
Bushings w/Set Screw
  • Bushings are unthreaded brass female inserts with a setscrew located at the side of the knob hub and insert. The setscrew is used to lock the knob onto a shaft.
Studs
  • Studs are zinc-coated steel threaded studs or male inserts are molded into the knob and have threads on a shaft projecting from the knob.
Dimensions
  • "A" is the knob diameter. The exception to this are 3-prong knobs which have an "a" dimension that is twice(2x) the longest radius of the knob.
  • "B" is the knob or handle height.
  • "C" is the knob hub diameter.
  • "D" is the hub height. Some knobs do not have hubs and therefore do not have a "D" dimension.
  • "t" defines the insert thread.
  • "d2" is the depth of internal threads
  • "L" is the length of a stud.
